The help we provide is through the Society’s Family Support Scheme. There are a variety of benefits paid to families under the scheme.   Once a family has been accepted onto the Scheme, the Society’s objective is to ensure that the children are still able to reach their potential and not be disadvantaged by the family’s financial situation.  The Society can help in the following ways, and please also see our additional help at the bottom of this page:

Monthly Child Welfare Grants
This is designed to boost income and enable families to provide basic essentials.   The grant is paid monthly into a bank account.

School Clothing Grants
A school clothing grant is paid twice a year for each child to enable them to have new school clothing. The school clothing grants are paid into a bank account in August and January.  An additional clothing grant is made if the child is starting primary school or moving up to secondary school.

Christmas Grants
Paid annually for each child to help with the cost of providing some of the gifts so very much expected but so difficult to provide.  The Christmas grant is paid into a bank account in November.

Ad Hoc Grants
Occasionally we can help with the purchase of essential items such as children's beds, cookers etc. However we will endeavour to get other organisations to help with these purchases. We do not clear debts, however, because of our extensive knowledge of other agencies we can always refer a family to someone who can provide confidential advice on debt and other issues.

Educational Grants
We will help if at all possible with educational school trips and holidays if they are of an educational nature. It is our aim that the children should not be disadvantaged further because the parents may not be able to afford the cost.

Holiday Caravan Scheme

The Society has a small number of caravans situated around the coast of the UK and families have the opportunity to apply for a free week’s holiday. We can not guarantee that everyone will be allocated the week of their choice but we do our best to ensure that everyone is offered a week.

Additional Help
In addition to providing grants, we aim to help families deal with other problems and queries they may have even if they are not of a financial nature.  Through our experience built up over many years, we will try to find someone or some organisation to help that may be able to assist you. You can find a list of links to other organisations here.
