An important part of the work of the Society is the opportunity for children to go with their family for a week’s holiday in one of five caravans owned by the Society. Most of us take a holiday for granted, the change of surroundings, meeting new people, just relaxing and getting away from it all for a week. However to many families and children this is not the case. One in three families in the UK does not have a week’s break and one in five children do not even have a day trip.

We know from the many postcards and letters of thanks that we receive from the children just  how much benefit the week away provides. The anticipation, the chance to meet new friends the new adventures they get up to. However last year we had to refuse some families the opportunity to have a break when they wanted it because we did not have sufficient capacity to satisfy the demand, in particular during the school holidays.

Therefore to meet the demand we need an additional caravan, to make six in total, and also we have to replace two of our existing caravans that are beginning to show their age.

Can you please therefore help us raise the £100,000 to buy the three new caravans and run them for a year? This seems like a lot of money but your contribution can make a big difference to our appeal.
